Limousin Steer Results at Sydney Royal 2006
The Limousin steer results at Sydney Royal were nothing short of remarkable for
the breed.  The Society's President endeavoured to do
an analysis of the results to show just how remarkable it was.

On the Hoof Judging

School Steers – Limousin Champion and Reserve Champion

Lightweight – Limousin Champion

Heavyweight – Limousin Champion and Reserve Champion

Class 12  (561 – 650 kg liveweight)

Eight of the 17 steers entered were Limousin.  These eight steers
filled the first eight places with scores ranging from 90.3 to 81.9.

An Analysis of Yield and Dressing Percentage

This is even more remarkable.

Dressing Percentage

49 steers dressed 60% or more of these 45 were Limousins, 1 Angus,
1 Murray Grey, 1 Square Meater, 1 Santa Gertrudis.
 
The top dressing percentage was 66% - Limousin (twice).
The lowest dressing percentage was 51%; 1 Simmental, 1 Lowline, 1 Galloway.

Yield (Eye Muscle Area)

65 steers obtained maximum points.  Of these:  49 were Limousin,
4 Galloways, 4 Square Meaters, 3 Simmental, 3 Charolais, 1 Santa Gertrudis, 1 Murray Grey.
